9:00pm | Days of Thunder (1990), Talladega Nights (2006) | PG-13 |
It's NASCAR night! I don't give a crap about racing. And I've even lived in Indy and been to the 500. It's just easily one of the most boring things that should be thrilling that we've ever invented. Sorry gearheads. But I sure do like good movies that can take something boring and make it fun! We've got Tony Scott re-pairing with Tom to make Top Gun on the ground. And Will Ferrell in arguably his funniest role, rounded-out solidly by JCR and SBC. Even if you're not a race fan, there's plenty to enjoy here!
Starring: Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman, Robert Duvall, Randy Quaid, Cary Elwes, Michael Rooker, John C. Reilly, Will Ferrell, John C. Reilly, Sacha Baron Cohen, Gary Cole, Amy Adams

10:00pm | The Accountant (2016) | R |
After thinking about it a lot and giving it enough time, I came to the conclusion that Gone Girl really fucking sucked. No idea why that is so highly rated. But that was clearly a problem with the writing and not Ben's fault. So we're gonna do Ben a good ol' redemption with a flick that I happen to know is awesome! He's a numbers savant, he's not good in social interactions, he's a VERY good shot... he's The Accountant. It's the exact opposite of how boring it sounds!
Starring: Ben Affleck, Anna Kendrick, J.K. Simmons, Jon Bernthal, Jeffery Tambor, John Lithgow, Jean Smart

10:00pm | Prisoners (2013) | R |
In honor of "Dune 2: The Sandworms are Here" coming out this week, let's check out this earlier Villeneuve murder mystery. I mean, the guy has done nothing but absolute bangers so far, so I can't see how this would be any different, especially with this cast. Some dude's daughter goes missing, police incompetence, vigilante justice, whodunnits and whatnots, and possibly a twist! Just how exactly do you pronounce "villenueve" so i stop sounding like an idiot? It's like "new house" right? Can anybody weigh in on this?
Starring: Hugh Jackman, Jake Gyllenhaal, Viola Davis, Melissa Leo, Maria Bello, Terrence Howard, Paul Dano

11:00pm | Videodrome (1983) | R |
First it controls your mind... then it destroys your body. A Canadian dirty TV station programmer tries to get to the bottom of a mysterious and dangerous secret broadcast. The seemingly snuff contents are what he's after, but it may cost an arm and a leg to obtain. James Woods plays the perfect sleaze, and Debbie Harry is just sooo hot in her first major film. This is Cronenberg... this is not for the squeamish! This is the Friday Night Midnight Movie!!
Starring: James Woods, Debbie Harry, Sonja Smits, Peter Dvorsky

10:00pm | Divergent (2014) | PG-13 |
There's a teen chick with powers, and a teen boy who's hot and probably 30, and there's like factions or subdivisions or something to do with class systems in a dystopian future... Guys, I dunno, I'm just guessing. I've never seen this, but at the same time, come on, we all know what a modern YA screen adaptation looks like. Personally, I have nothing against watching pretty people do fantastic stuff for a while. I saw Maze Runner... is that in this series?
Starring: Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Kate Winslet, Jai Courtney, Ashley Judd, Zoe Kravitz, Miles Teller, Maggie Q

10:00pm | Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood (2019) | R |
Another amazing "altered history" movie from Tarantino loosely based around the manson murders, or at least around that time. Well, sorta. It's kind of a love letter to the end of the Golden Age of Hollywood. I guess I don't really know what this movie is actually about... it's really just Brad and Leo cruisin' around 1969 Hollywood having the absolute most wholesome bromance ever put on film. So what if there's no actual plot? I'm here for it!
Starring: Brad, Leo, Margot, Dakota Fanning, Bruce Dern, Luke Perry, Al Pacino, Timothy Olyphant, Mike Moh

11:00pm | Escape from New York (1981) | R |
When your main character is named Snake, a convicted bank robber and certified badass, charged with securing the president after a plane crash..... well, you might have yourself a filthy, fucking awesome movie. And when you supercharge that with dynamic-duo Kurt Russell and John Carpenter, well my friend, you've got yourself a classic Friday Night Midnight Movie!!!
Starring: Kurt Russell, Lee Van Cleef, Ernest Borgnine, Donald Pleasence, Isaac Hayes, Harry Dean Stanton, Adrienne Barbeau

11:00pm | Death Becomes Her (1992) | PG-13 |
Valentine's Edition! This lesser known, but cult classic Zemeckis film is fantastic fun. The cast is perfect, the comedy is dark, and the special effects are truly novel. A love-triangle between two aging, rival stars and the weary man caught in between them gets bizarre when a magical potion that promises immortality is introduced into the mix.
Starring: Meryl Streep, Bruce Willis, Goldie Hawn, Isabella Rossellini

11:00pm | Plane (2023) | R |
Plane. I mean, there's something to be said for simplicity. It's actually even kinda meta if you allow for spelling... Anyway, I saw this trailer once, and I assumed it was a real movie because I'll believe anything, and then it actually was a movie, and then here we are. So you know what? Let's find out together that this probably has infuriatingly little to do at all with a fucking plane!
Starring: Gerard Butler, Mike Colter, Tony Goldwyn, Yoson An, Daniella Pineda

10:00pm | Now You See Me 1 & 2 (2013) | PG-13 |
Heists, magic, Isla Fisher... man this has everything 13 year old me could want! I could swear we watched this before, but couldn't find it on the list, maybe it's just cuz I watch it every few years. These modern Robin Hoods pull off bank jobs during their shows and hand the money back to the audience. Wait, does that mean they're stealing other poor people's money and redistributing it? They better be stealing rich people's money, cuz otherwise this is just dirty commies doing a misdirect and not robin-hoodery at all. I'll stand for NO MISDIRECTION in this movie!
Starring: Jesse Eisenberg, Common, Mark Ruffalo, Woody Harrelson, Isla Fisher, Dave Franco

11:00pm | Gone Girl (2014) | R |
Have you ever found yourself wondering what Ben Affleck's hog looks like? Of course you have! You've got a heart and it's beating. Well, what if I told you there's a whole-ass David Fincher movie to watch that just happens to have that hog in it?? I know I was surprised. I might also be surprised by this movie, cuz I have a feeling there's a twist. But I haven't seen it yet, so no spoilers. (Except hog spoilers, the cat's outta the bag on that bad boy.)
Starring: Ben Affleck, Rosamund Pike, NPH, Tyler Perry, Carrie Coon, Kim Dickens

11:00pm | Source Code (2011) | PG-13 |
Colter Stevens is a government experiment with only 8 minutes to solve a train bomb mystery and catch the killer. After that his consciousness gets plopped into another person. So, are they just bombing the shit out of trains? Or is it like he's in some sort of simulation they can restart? But then why would he have to be a different person? I'm assuming they're gonna answer my questions, cuz this was pretty well-received. Unlike that Metra pulling into Union Station right abou-
Starring: Jake Gyllenhaal, Michelle Monaghan, Vera Farmiga, Jeffery Wright

12:00am | Antlers (2021) | R |
Terrifying, ancient creatures... middle school kids... who can tell the difference? Taxidermy trauma? Bad shellfish at the local steakhouse with tchotchke walls? Well, it's not on me, cuz I've never seen this, but hopefully Felicity can sus it out for us. The only thing I know for sure is it's the Friday Night Midnight Movie!!
Starring: Keri Russell, Jesse Plemons, Jerey T. Thomas, Graham Greene, Scott Haze
